The exact tools our guests started with

Free & cheap tools from month one.

None of our guests started with an agency, a big budget, or specialist software. Here's what actually ran their businesses in month one. Most of it was free. Getting found: a free Google Business Profile and a one-page site built in an afternoon on Carrd or Notion. Nobody needed a custom website to get their first customer. Getting paid: Stripe or PayPal for card payments, invoiced through free templates in Google Docs. No accounting software until there was actual revenue to account for. Staying organised: a single shared Google Sheet did the job of a CRM, a project tracker, and an inbox for leads. Only when it visibly couldn't cope did anyone pay for something dedicated like Notion or Trello. Talking to customers: WhatsApp Business and email. They did not need a help desk or a chatbot, just fast, personal replies from the founder. Looking professional: Canva covered social posts, one-page documents, and even early pitch decks. The free tier was enough until there was budget to justify more. The common thread: every tool was free or near-free, and every guest upgraded only once the free version was visibly the bottleneck. Buying tools simply to feel prepared was, without exception, something they regretted.
